During Melbourne's Grand Prix weekend the action off the track is just as exciting as what happens on it.While many of the teams and their sponsors throw spectacular parties, the highlight remains the Official Grand Prix Ball on the Friday night of the event.
Planning is already well advanced for what promises to be another fabulous evening in 2010.
In 2008 there were, as usual, famous faces wherever you looked among the 900 guestsat the Crown Palladium, all of whom enjoyed the red carpet reception with G.H. Mumm Champagne and canapés followed by a fantastic three-course meal with some very special Hardys wines. And the entertainment was spectacular.
Welsh mezzo soprano Katherine Jenkins held the audience spellbound with a rare Australian performance. Later in the evening, one of pop's most enduring favourites made everyone feel like dancing. Leo Sayer proved he's lost none of his energy and style with two great sets that book-ended and appearance by the Divas from the musical Priscilla, Queen and the Desert.
The four members of KISS - Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer - enjoyed the whole show from their own table before weighing in with a guitar for the charity auction.
